Why I would like more reviews

Updated: Aug 17, 2023

Every author I know says please write a review when I tell them I've read their latest book, especially if I say I liked it. In fact I always say this because authors need praise, just like everyone. But I'm afraid I sometimes let a promise slip. Good intentions, crap on delivery.

Which is why I'm writing this blog - a plea for more reviews of Stalker. Who would have guessed!

At a recent book club event the lack of reviews on Amazon was commented on. Point both made, and taken, I replied. Do post some. Nods all round, alongside generous comments, but when I checked several weeks later there were no new reviews at all.

I raised this at my Novelists in London monthly zoom meeting yesterday evening, and apparently it's a common problem.

One of the writers made the observation that writing a review can be put away in the 'too difficult' drawer. It's important, he said, to emphasise that a couple of sentences is enough. Even one. A review doesn't have to be a full-blown critique. Keep it simple.

So here goes - please post a review of Stalker if you use Amazon. There's no need to have bought it on Amazon either, and it can be anonymous. Bottom line: I'd love to see those numbers creep up.

And a special thanks in advance to everyone who posts a review after reading this.
