Another meet the author event – this time with a lively book club in Chiswick, thanks to my sister-in-law Lorna who put Stalker forward for discussion. Apparently it was the first time the author of the book in question had been invited to come along in person, and members had been wondering how the evening would go.
For my own part, I love it when I can meet readers and engage with them; and I've discovered that the book club provides the perfect opportunity. For a start I know everyone will have read the book already with a view to discussing it in depth, and the setting provides a focus for questions that are always intelligent and often challenging. This was no exception. I found myself being held to account for aspects I hadn’t necessarily recognised as significant, and revisiting editorial decisions I’d made more than a year ago.
One more rewarding experience on my post-publication journey. I’m now looking forward to the next book club evening, this time in Sourh London.
